2020 was a challenging year for everyone. And enough has been said already about it. But the one good thing that this year gave us all is the ability to rethink — everything! It pushed us to rethink our lifestyle, values, economics, financials, and society. And the more we thought, the more it made us realize that the solutions to our current problems are inadequate. The world gradually realizes that we will have to find new solutions to our problems.
O’ Mankind, You Will Never Go Astray
For this, at Thaqlain, announce this year as the year of propagating the Quran and Ahlulbayt. With the sole intention that our beloved Holy Prophet has taken the responsibility that whoever holds to them, will never go astray (offtrack). So at a time, when the world is gasping for some fresh air, we help them discover the reason Allah created this world in the first place.
Let us re-introduce ourselves to these two-weighty things. Let us make sure to bring their teachings in our lives, implement them and be a reflection. We introduce their wisdom and knowledge to those unaware of them. With the firm faith that there is no problem, be it domestic, social, scientific, economical or political for which they have not provided any solution.
The Time Our Imams Waited For
If we look back in history, we will find that Imam Zain al-Abedin initiated the first-ever Islamic School at the peak of utmost socio-political unrest. Later, in Imam Baqir and Imam Sadiq’s time, this school grew into a university having 40,000 students. We, the followers of Ahlulbayt, need to realize that the opportunity to introduce the world to our scholars’ incredible work on the teachings of the Quran and Ahlulbayt is TODAY!
And this world starts with us — ourselves. How many of us are today aware of the narrations brought to us by Zurarah? Or by Muhammad ibn Muslim? How much time and energy have we expensed on the depths of Tawheed al-Mufaddal? How many of us are aware of the contributions of Sheikh Tusi or Allama Majlisi? How many of us have read the work of present-day scholars like Sayyid Muneer al-Khabbaz and Ayatollah Saeed al-Hakeem (we recommend reading Imam Mahdi by Sayyid Muneer and Understanding Karbala by Ayatollah Hakeem).
The more we connect with our scholars and their work, the more we will help our present and future generations. The more we propagate the work they have done on the teachings of the Quran and Ahlulbayt, the easier it will be to connect the world to the source of all guidance. As Imam Ali said, “With us is the flag of truth, one who refrains from following us is misguided and one who follows us is guided aright“.
Keeping the Propaganda Aside
It is crucial that while propagating, we keep any hidden agenda or motive aside. We need to keep our animosity, our personal preferences and our personal goals aside. We need to introduce the teachings of the Quran and Ahlulbayt without any contamination. And most importantly, we should present the solutions backed by the Quran and Ahlulbayt instead of the most dangerous thing: our personal opinions.
We will conclude with the prayers that may Allah hasten the reappearance of His final sign. And may Allah help us to follow this hadith of Imam Mahdi, “Concerning new matters which will occur, return to those who narrate our narrations for indeed they are my proof upon you and I’m the proof of Allah upon all people“.
